Varsity field hockey finished their season on Oct. 21 when they fell to second seed St. Joseph’s Academy in the round of 16 of the State Tournament. To reach the Sweet 16, the Longhorns beat Lindbergh, a team we lost to (2-1) the previous week in the last game of the season. The team stepped up and upset the higher ranked Flyers 1-0 to send the Longhorns to the Sweet 16 for the 3rd time in program history. Our keeper Caitlin Brandmill led the state in saves, and we had two players, Brooke Hoenecke and Hannah Zaiser, finish the season with 30 plus points. The team played some brilliant hockey this season with outstanding team defense, beautiful passing combinations and pretty goals. We look forward to building on what we accomplished this season!
