Parkway Central High School
CHEER
The PCH Cheer Team recently concluded basketball season, eagerly cheering for both the varsity boys and girls basketball teams throughout the winter season. Although the cheer season is over for a few weeks, many cheerleaders are still in the midst of choir contests, orchestra, theater, soccer, track, and other spring sports, activities and extracurricular activities at Central. The cheer team is looking forward to celebrating a successful season with an annual banquet, lined up with a couple of surprises from the coaches for all their hard work this year.
We will be hosting tryouts for the 23 – 24 school year April 3-6.
Let’s go Colts!
BASKETBALL(BOYS)
Having graduated 13 seniors from the 21-22 team, this year’s team returned only 2 players with varsity experience, juniors Oliver Kokal and Ty Adams. Those two players played big roles in an 11-18 campaign, with Oliver averaging 19.7 points, passing the 1000 point mark with 38 points on January 27 vs Hazelwood West, and earning 1st-team All-Conference and All-District honors. Ty Adams also earned All-District and Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition, and was the 2nd leading scorer at 8 ppg. Senior Rashard Townsend came on strong at the end of the season, averaged 7 ppg, and helped the Colts reach the district championship game with wins over Holt and Fort Zumwalt South. Ultimately the Colts fell short of the district title, losing to Westminster, but laid the groundwork for next season when all but one player will return. Juniors Sam Sailors and Caleb Mues started the majority of the season, played big roles defensively and showed offensive potential. Sophomore Dillon Harris took on the ballhandling duties all season and gained invaluable varsity experience. The Colts look to the 23-24 with a great deal of optimism, and hope to build on the experience gained this year.
On December 2nd, the Colts hosted their 2nd annual “Talk 4 Tyler” game in memory of PCBB alum Tyler Wessel. The program raised $4000 dollars to donate to C.H.A.D.S. Coalition on Mental Health. Tyler’s mom Cindy gave an inspirational message, highlighting the need to break the stigma and talk openly about mental health and mental illness.

BASKETBALL(GIRLS)
The girls basketball team made a huge leap this year. We returned four seniors who were all fantastic leaders and the results speak for themselves. The team finished with three times as many wins as the year before and made it all the way to the district finals where we lost a heartbreaker in overtime. Along the way a multitude of individual and team records were set this season. The team hit a school record 192 three pointers and we had four of the top seven scoring games in program history. Maggie Roberts became the 10th girl in school history to score 1000 points and Sadie Levy had the most points by a sophomore in 33 years. This was truly a special group of girls and they were a joy to coach.
