Girls Basketball-13-11 Varsity Record
The Lady Comets bounced back from a 2-17 record in 2021-22 to a 13-11 record this year. This is the first time in over 10 years that the Lady Comets finished the season with a winning record. The regular season was topped off with a big win over McCluer North, which hasn’t been done since 2006. Seniors Za’Mya Bradley and Kaya Mays were selected as 1st Team All-Conference. And the biggest win that we had is that we didn’t have any player quit, or have to be removed due to grades. We had enough athletes in the program to activate our junior varsity and freshman teams which hadn’t been done for many years.
Boys Basketball
Our freshman finished season 8-14. Up and down season with freshman moving between JV and Varsity. Three freshmen ended the season on varsity. The JV had a good season even with all the shuffling between JV and Varsity ended season 15-11. The JV took second in the FZN tournament, third in Hazelwood West tournament and went 6-3 against a tough private school schedule. The Varsity had a tough season but won the consolation championship at FZN tournament. Brandon Johnson made the All-Tournament Team and also was a Suburban Conference 2nd team player. Jalen Reynolds made the Belleville East tournament academic first team.

Girls Swimming
McCluer girls’ swim team had a great season. We had a large increase in swimmers from the previous season and many of the newcomers were new to the sport. We had many girls that were learning to swim completely or learning to swim all four strokes. By the end of the season, we were seeing many big time drops from everyone on the team and girls’ competing in events for the first time.
McCluer was able to host the Green Pool Suburban Conference swim meet at Steam Academy. The meet was a huge success and it was an honor as a team to host. At the conference swim meet, we placed in two individual events and all of our relays. There were many medals and personal bests to put a cap on a fantastic season. Go comets!
