Baseball
Lindbergh baseball was well represented in this year’s postseason awards. Senior Dane Bjorn capped off an impressive high school career by being named The Suburban Yellow Conference Pitcher of the Year. The future Tennessee Volunteer was also named a Class 6 District 1 first-team selection alongside teammate Nick Bonczkowski, who also garnered first-team all-district and all-conference honors. Junior Michael Politte was named to both the district and conference second teams. Senior Andrew Schraut earned this year’s Suburban Conference sportsmanship award.
Boys Golf
The boys golf program finished the 2023 campaign with a 8-2 overall record, 6-2 in the Suburban conference. The Flyers were led by freshman Braden Wright, who finished third in the Seckman Tournament after shooting a 73. He was also a four-time season match medalist and was named the Lindbergh boys golf MVP. Seniors Chase Barger, Michael Shamia and Anthony Hessee all earned season match medals. Senior Patrick Willie, along with Shamia and junior Blake Houston were named to the Suburban West Red Pool all-conference teams.
Boys Lacrosse
The Lindbergh boys lacrosse team had plenty of expectations for this season, coming in at number nine in the MSLA preseason coaches poll. They earned the number two seed in this year’s Suburban West conference tournament and made an appearance in the semifinals of the Class 1 state tournament, ultimately falling to Ladue. In a game in early March, sophomore Luke Wolfard broke two school records in single game points (14) and single game goals (11). Wolfard would go on to break two more records, single season goals (61) and single season points (92) and was named both a first-team all-conference and all-state selection. Teammate Javonte Tiller was also named to the all-state first-team on defense. The Flyers had three all-state second-team honorees, Jack Hessler, Eli Preheim, and Brady Stanton.
Girls Soccer
The Lindbergh girls soccer team continued to make strides in 2023, finishing the season at 11-11. Elizabeth Mertzlufft set the tone for the Flyers by finishing the season with 37 points and a first-team all-conference selection. She was joined on the first team by Zoe Earley. Courtney Conlon and Molly Kroenlein were named to the second team, while Emma Turek, Brenna West, Madison Mertzlufft, and Izzi Hegger all earned honorable mentions. Senior Kelsey Cochran earned the conference’s sportsmanship award. Ella Green and Courtney Conlon were named all-district selections, with Conlon representing Lindbergh in the MAC All-Star game.
Track and Field
On the girls side, the Flyers saw success both on the team and at the individual level. The team took home first place in both the Parkway South Invite and Suburban Yellow Conference meets. All-conference selections included:

● Cami Thomas – first-team 4×100, triple jump, second-team 4×200
● Hannah Hiers – first-team 4×100, 200m, second-team 300m hurdles
● Taylor Forbes – first-team 4×800, second-team 800
● Fatimah Alamaori – first-team 4×800, 1600m, second-team 800m
● Kylie Scott – first-team pole vault, 4×100, 100m hurdles
● Bryan Hilton: Suburban Yellow Coach of the Year
Junior Kylie Scott set a new school record in the pole vault, clearing 12′ 3″. She broke her own record, which she set during her sophomore season. Scott also qualified for the Class 5 state meet in the pole vault, finishing in third place overall. The girls 4×100 team of Thomas, Rea, Lewis, and Heirs qualified for state as well.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball team played this season in honor of their teammate, Quintyn “Q” Lewis, a senior member of the squad who passed away in October. Lewis was an energetic leader, and the Flyers channeled that energy into their 15-11-2 campaign. Senior libero Xavier Gamayo became Lindbergh’s all-time school leader in digs in a career (1,012) and digs in a season (471) on his way to first-team all-conference and district honors. He. along with fellow senior Caleb Mueller, were named to the Parkway Central all-tournament gold team. Mueller earned the conference’s sportsmanship award and was one of five Flyers to be recognized as academic all-staters. In addition, Thomas Shaffer, Wyatt Clark, and Sam Meyer all received conference honorable mention nods, and Shaffer, Meyer, and junior Parker Hartman joined Gamayo in being named all-district.
Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team finished its season with a 16-5 overall record, going 3-1 in conference play. They also had a trio of all-conference selections. Junior Alex Pickett was given first-team singles honors, while junior Josh McDonald and sophomore Eli McCulley earned first-team doubles honors. Dillion Phruttitum was the winner of the conference’s sportsmanship award.
Boys Water Polo
The Lindbergh boys water polo team finished its season with a 19-10 record, 3-2 in conference play, and a third place finish in the Suburban. The Flyers were able to hold off Kirkwood in overtime 14-13 to send Lindbergh to its first state final four appearance since 2017. Lindbergh would go on to finish fourth in the state. Caleb Jones capped off his senior season with first-team nods on both the all-conference and all-district teams. Fellow seniors Drew Watson, Aiden Myers, Trey Watson, Danny Feiste, and Ryan Diehl also earned all-district and all-conference honors.
Girls Water Polo
For the first time, Lindbergh fielded a girls water polo team. They quickly made their presence known, placing fourth at state. Head coach Lauren Smith was named the Suburban Yellow Pool Coach of the Year, and three of her players earned all-district status. They were led by Alex Thornton, who earned a second-team nod. Hannah Deeter and Heidi Hunter were named to the third team, while Peyton Muckenthaler earned an honorable mention nod.
Ultimate Frisbee
The Lindbergh girls ultimate frisbee team finished their season with an appearance at state, finishing in third place. The team also boasted four St. Louis Ultimate Juniors All-Stars; Avery Sharp, Nicole Thomas, Abby Deeter, and Ivanka Huynh. Head coach Kristina Kohl was also named the girls division Coach of the Year. The Lindbergh boys ultimate team would finish sixth in the state and boast two of their own all-star game selections.
Esports
The Lindbergh Esports program had a successful season. In its first year of existence, the program’s League of Legends team finished the season with a 7-3 overall record, 6-1 in conference play. The team also finished as conference and regional runners up, capping things off with a fourth place finish at state. Also in its first year, the Overwatch team finished a perfect 7-0 regular season with a regional championship. They finished the season third out of 36 teams in the state. The Valorant team qualified for a second straight state appearance after taking first place at regionals. They’d go on to finish second in the state. Rocket League also won a regional crown and finished as state runners up.
