Andrew Wier finished 2nd place at the 195 pound weight class in the 2022 Granite City "Red Schmitt" Holiday Tournament. He went 3-0 in the pool play portion of the tournament with technical falls and a pin. In the championship bracket he earned a first round victory by technical fall and then he defeated returning Class 3 2nd place state medalist, Blake Goodman of Bolivar High School in the semi finals by major decision in a 21-8 victory. He lost in the finals to the #1 seed Matteo Casillas from Mahomet-Seymour HS in Illinois who finished 3rd place in State in Illinois in 2022 and 2nd Place in state in 2021 by a score of 3-0 in the finals.
