Fall 2023 Season Review – Rockwood Summit HS

The Rockwood Summit Falcons have just completed their Fall Season. There are many teams and individuals to highlight for their accomplishments.

The Varsity Girls Golf team enjoyed a great deal of success. The Falcons won the Suburban Yellow Conference Tournament at the end of the season. When the post season began, the Girls team finished in 2nd place at the Class 3 District Tournament, qualifying the entire team for the State Tournament. The Lady Falcons played well and came away with a 3rd Place Team finish in the Class 3 State Golf Tournament. Players included Maurissa Thrall, Lily Poplawski, Claire McCarthy, Madison Hall, and Maddie Gregston.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team also enjoyed a very successful season. The Falcons played an extremely difficult schedule. The Falcons shared the Suburban Yellow Conference Championship with Lindbergh. They moved on to win the Class 3, District 2 Championship over Borgia 3-1. After defeating the Farmington Knights in the State Quarterfinals the Falcons moved on to State. The Falcons lost a tough semifinal game at State 1-0 in OT, but bounced back with a 4-1 victory of Springfield Catholic, finishing with a Class 3, 3rd Place State finish.

For the 2nd time in school history the Rockwood Summit Football team completed an undefeated regular season at 9-0. The Falcons made it all the way to the District Championship Game this season, winning the Suburban Green Pool. Coach Eric Stewart was named Suburban Green Coach of the Year. In addition Eli Steven was the Conference Offensive POY, and Jason Kirk was named the Conference Defensive POY.

Reese Martin, Cate Rossomanno, and Mia Brown all qualified for the Class 3, Girls State Cross Country Meet this season. Cate Rossomanno earned the District XC Championship by finishing in 1st place. Reese Martin earned her 3rd All State medal, finishing in 24th place at the State Meet.

The Falcon Boys Swim team earned their highest State Meet placement by finishing in 8th Place at the Class 1 State Swim and Dive Meet.Medalists included:

200 Medley Relay-(7th place)

Gabe Cusanelli, Jake Tegethoff, Ryan Menz, Tyler Wilkinson

100 Freestyle Relay-(6th place)

Gabe Cusaneilli, Jake Tegethoff, Ryan Menz, Tyler Wikinson

Jake Tegethoff- 100 Freestyle (6th place)

Gabe Cusaneilli- 100 Freestyle (3rd place), 100 Breaststroke (5th place)

In addition to many other teams, the Varsity Girls Volleyball team enjoyed a great deal of success. They won the Rolla Tournament and completed the year with a 23-13 record. The Falcons earned the # 1 seed at the District Tournament and fell in a 5 set thriller in the finals.

Summit Field Hockey Coach Andy Neil earned the Esrock Award as the St. Louis Field Hockey Coach of the Year.
