Hazelwood Central High School
Softball –
This year was the first-year coaching for both our head and assistant softball coaches. We had a tremendous amount of growth within this program in one season. Our girls competed relentlessly every game and showed a lot of heart. We are looking forward to Head Coach Davis’s new leadership with this program and the ability to continue to build for the near future.
Boys Swimming –
Head Coach Megan Walsh had a productive year with a small group of boy’s swimmers that were consistently competitive. We are making efforts to continue to grow the popularity of swimming within our school. Coach Walsh has done a great job showing growth within the production of her small team. We are excited about growing our boys swim program for next season.
Cross Country –
Hazelwood Central again hosted one of the largest cross country meets this year at Sioux Passage Park and we looking to continuing that tradition. Our boys and girls cross-country team worked very hard and they showed they can compete with some of the best in the area as the continued to produce competitive times. We believe next fall our returning boys and girl’s members will be some of the best in the conference.
Girls Tennis –
We are extremely proud of winning the season the girls tennis team produced this fall. They went on multiple winning streaks and showed we can compete with anyone. Head Coach Walsh has shown her veteran leadership as the team sported the best team GPA for all of our fall sports programs. We are extremely proud of this program! Way to go!
Boys Soccer –
The boys soccer team won the conference pool this year after finishing with a 15-5 record! They had several standouts in one of the top 10 goals against average percentages in the state and one of the areas top goal scorers as well. We are optimistic as to what the district tournament will yield for this program. The future looks very bright under the veteran leadership of Head Coach Parnell.
Volleyball –
The volleyball program welcomed in a brand-new coaching staff at all three levels. The team competed well and the leadership grew within each of our volleyball teams. We are looking forward to building on a successful first year under Head Coach Raspberry and expect big things to come next season.
Football –
This was the first season that Hazelwood Central was playing at home and at night! Due to a recent bond issue passing we were afforded a new artificial field surface, 8 lane track, scoreboard, and lights! This has created quite the excitement as we have marched through this year’s football season.
Head Coach Davis has shown this program is starting to peak at the right time of the year. As we enter district play, the improved overall play has been evident. The varsity football program has a winning recoded and one of the top two-way linemen in the state in Senior Teon Gray who is currently committed to the University of Oregon. We are excited to see what this program will do in the playoffs under Coach Davis’s leadership.
