Fall 2022 Season Summary – Pattonville High School

Pattonville wrapped up a successful fall season in 2022. We wrapped up a pool championship in soccer and volleyball, had state qualifiers in boys and girls cross country, and state qualifiers in boys swim.

Girls Volleyball

The girls volleyball team enjoyed a successful 2022 season. They finished the year as two time conference champions. The Pirates were led by Co-Conference players of the year Kylie Surratt and Reagan Nelson as well as 4 other all conference players. Their final record of 19-6-1 was the most wins for the program in school history.

Boys Swim

Boys Swim and Dive Season finished a successful 2022 season. We were a successful young team with many new athletes Adam Reddy, Jack Pfister, and Ian Artelt swam state consideration times in individual events. The 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Free Relay all qualified for the state competition finishing in 23rd, 29th, and 30th. At the conference meet we had three individual medalists along with all three relays medaling.

Girls Golf

The Pattonville Girls Golf team had a successful 2022 campaign. Zelletta Wyatt (10th grade) earned First Team All-Conference honors. Tehya Cox Potter (11th grade) and Mackenzie Cain (10th grade) earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Cami Neumann (11th grade) and Jennean Bargoughty (11th grade) were named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention squad.

Football

Though the team went 5-5, they were very competitive and displayed a lot of heart and poise. These young people gave their all for our 19 seniors and put themselves in

position to be household names in the future. We want to thank the entire Pattonville community for showing up and/or tuning in to watch the Pirates play!!! We look forward to making you proud for years to come.

All Conference Awards: #16 Bryan Orta earned the Sportsmanship Award for Pattonville Football. Four players made 1 st Team All-Conference (#2 DeAndre Rush Jr., #3 Tory Allen, #11 Terrell Porter Jr. and #57 August Heiligenstein), six players made 2 nd Team All-Conference and thirteen players made Honorable Mention All-Conference. Three players (#8 Mike Montoya, #9 Dylan Stewart and #10 Byron McNair) were named to the Conference All-Academic Team.

Choir

The Pattonville Choirs continue to be active in the community while earning Exemplary ratings at Large Group Festival. 23 students earned placement in the St. Louis Suburban District Honor Choir, with 12 receiving All-State Choir auditions. Of these, 4 were selected for the All-State Choir, and 2 Honorable Mention. Additionally, 7 students earned a perfect score on the sight-reading portion of the audition, and will represent Pattonville in the All-State Sight-Reading Bee.

Girls Cross Country

The girls cross country team had a successful 2022 season, full of many new faces. The team sent Senior Rebecca Simpkins to the State meet in Columbia. The JV squad won second place at the Terry Meatheaney Invitational and that impressive group of Sophomores will rise to lead our Varsity team next year.

Boys Cross Country

The Pattonville boys cross country team had a great season and continues to grow as a program. Our numbers increased from 24 to 36 runners from last season to this year. We had two state qualifiers – Luke Stevenson and Simon Muthemba. Luke Stevenson won 1st place individually in two races this year and finished in 8th place at the state meet which is the best finish by a Pattonville boy at the state meet since 1968. He also broke the school record in the 5K with a time of 15:49.

Softball

The girls softball program had a successful season. We ended the season 12-14. We had 7 girls make the all conference team, 6 girls make the all district team, and 2 girls make the all region team. We are looking forward to getting back to work and seeing what the future holds for our program!

Girls Tennis

The girls tennis team was in a rebuilding mode this year, but managed to win 4 team matches in 2022. Our top 2 players and captains, Norina Shao and Emma Artelt, led the team in individual wins with 15 each. These two were also voted 1st team all conference. Emma received recognition at singles while Norina was recognized at singles and doubles. We are looking very forward to next year and continued growth throughout the tennis team.

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team ended this season as co-conference champions for the first time since 2008. The season was highlighted with important wins over Affton and Seckman to solidify the title. Pattonville had five players receive all conference awards including Beckett Grabner being honored as the goalkeeper of the year for conference.

Band

The Pattonville HS Band Program started off the 2022-2023 school year by congratulating Seniors Sydney Suvansri (National Band Student of the Year Award Recipient) and Max McFarland (National Band Student of the Year Finalist) for their national recognition.

The Marching Band Guard achieved an undefeated competitive season winning four Division Championships and three Grand Championships along with several awards for Best Musical Performance, Best Visual Performance, Best Percussion and Best Guard.

Through an audition process, the Pattonville High School Jazz Ensemble was selected to perform at the 2023 Missouri Music Educators Association State Conference at TanTarA on January 26, 2023! Pattonville boasts the only high school jazz band that was selected to perform at this year’s conference.

Fourteen PHS Band Members were recognized as SLSMEA All-Suburban Band or Jazz Band members and Alternates this fall. Concert Band: Zoe Click, Patrick Ferguson, Janani Kamalakkannan, Marques Rutlin, Joey Stewart and Sydney Suvansri. Jazz Band: Jack Caesar, Nick Drayton and Max McFarland. Jazz Band Alternates: Floyd Davis III, Sydney Hoynacki, Ethan Massey, Peter McCullough and Tyren Thompson. These students will audition for seats in the All-State Honor Ensembles on December 3, 2022.
